LEE CHAPMAN

Originally from Los Angeles where he directed TV commercials for cars, soaps, toys and various foods. In 1992 he moved to Mexico to fulfill his dream of being an artist. His work has been strongly influenced by the people, the color, the music and folklore of Mexico. And also the many dogs, cats, pigs and burros in his neighborhood.

His images have been licensed by and printed as calendars, greeting-cards and decorative items sold in stores such as Pierl, Aaron Bros, JC Penney, Kohl’s and Ross. He has illustrated many children’s picture books for various publishers in the USA, some co-written with his wife Nancy. Over the years his whimsical paintings have been shown in Puerto Vallarta galleries and other cities throughout Mexico. His work is represented in many private collections both in Mexico and the US including the museum of Latin American Art in California.

 

Originario de Los Ángeles, donde dirigió comerciales de televisión de automóviles, jabones, juguetes y diversos alimentos. En 1992 se trasladó a México para cumplir su sueño de ser artista. Su obra ha estado fuertemente influenciada por la gente, el color, la música y el folclore de México. Y también los numerosos perros, gatos, cerdos y burros de su barrio.

Sus imágenes han sido autorizadas e impresas como calendarios, tarjetas de felicitación y artículos decorativos vendidos en tiendas como Pierl, Aaron Bros, JC Penney, Kohl’s y Ross. Ha ilustrado muchos libros ilustrados para niños para varias editoriales en los EE. UU., Algunos coescritos con su esposa Nancy. A lo largo de los años, sus fantásticas pinturas se han exhibido en galerías de Puerto Vallarta y otras ciudades de México. Su trabajo está representado en muchas colecciones privadas tanto en México como en los Estados Unidos, incluido el museo de Arte Latinoamericano en California.
